D Source Exclusive Interview with The Filipino Flash 

I caught up with Nonito Donaire Jr. today July 3, 2009 a couple of days after his press conference announcing "Pinoy Power 2" where he will be facing Panama's Rafael Concepcion. Concepcion was responsible for defeating another promising Filipino boxer in AJ Banal last year.

In this exclusive interview with "The Filipino Flash", Nonito discusses the death of one of his all-time favorite boxers in Alexis Arguello and how Arguello influenced his boxing career and attributed studying Arguello's left hook as one of the keys to his knockout victory over Vic Darchinyan.

"What's the early scouting report on Rafael Concepcion?"

"It's going to be a tough fight. The guy is really tough, he has a lot of heart and he is really brave and he has nothing to lose. He doesn't think of anything else but his goals and winning. Those guys are tough guys to fight when they're only set on doing their best. I expect him to come and brawl things out."

On Arguello

Nonito Donaire 

When we were younger, I remember my brother (Glen Donaire) and I started fighting, my dad was teaching us to throw his (Arguello) left hook. I was at that time learning how to throw a left hook and my brother was teaching me "this is how Arguello throws his punches, this is how he does it," and that's how I got my hook- trying to emulate what Arguello does- how he throws his hooks, my brother and dad told me how to do it this way and that way and I saw some of his fights. Right now I have a lot of his fights and collections and we were watching through it here in Undisputed (Nonito's bosing gym).
