For most of us fight sports fanatics that do not have the physical abilities of a Mike Tyson, Anderson Silva or Manny Pacquiao, the closest thing we can get to the real thing other than watching it live is to play video games based on the sport. With technology vastly improving by the second, fight sports video games are realer than ever! Here are some games I recommend for all of you to try and get your hands on.
FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4 (PS3/ XBOX 360)
Hands down the best fight sports franchise in the video game industry thus far. The graphics and character detail is ill! Check out the screenshots of Fight Night Round 4 from Quibian Salazar-Moreno, our Video Game Examiner. Fight Night 4 promises to be the best yet. IGN.com describes this game as a game featuring a re-written gameplay engine. Fight Night Round 4 adds a variety of fighting styles and boxer differentiation to authentically emulate the greatest fighters of all time. Pressure your opponent with the brawling inside style of young Mike Tyson, bobbing and weaving to set up powerful hooks and uppercuts. Capitalize on Muhammad Ali's reach, hand speed and fleetness of foot to bewilder your opponent with lightning fast jabs and straights from the outside. For the first time in history, Fight Night Round 4 gives you the opportunity to pit these legendary heavyweights against one another and name a true champ. Relase date is June 30.

UFC - UNDISPUTED (PS3 / XBOX 360)

Rampage, Shogun, Forrest, Iceman. Need I say more? IGN.com describes UFC 2009 Undisputed as an explosive fighting game detailing the action, intensity and attitude of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Featuring an authentic and comprehensive UFC atmosphere, including an extensive roster of the best mixed martial arts fighters in the world, players will push the envelope with a powerful new game engine and put their best fighting disciplines to the test in the world famous Octagon. Relase date is May19. Here's a review by our Seattle Console Game Examiner, Todd Jensen.

PUNCH OUT (Wii)

Who can forget Little Mac and the wacky characters in the original Punch Out game for the old NES such as Glass Joe, King Hippo and Don Flamenco? Well, they're back! And with the motion controls of the Wii, this will be a sure hit for old-school fans of the game and new gamers as well. As a kid, I was just so hooked on this game and remember all the hours I spent trying to defeat Mike Tyson. He won't be in this installment of the game however but previews have all been positive. Besides, Iron Mike will be in Fight Night 4 anyway. Release date is May 18. Here's a more in-depth review of the game from our LA Console Game Examiner, Ash Paulsen.
