Fedor Emalianenko's (30-1-1 NC) first order of business under his new umbrella Strikeforce will be a heavyweight clash against undefeated Brett "The Grimm" Rogers (10-0).

Naturally, a lot of experts and so-called experts in the world of MMA have written-off Rogers by virtue of the "Kimbo rule". If you haven't heard of the terminolgy before, please allow me to elaborate. By "Kimbo rule" what I'm trying to say is the stigma of a big black heavyweight banger like Rogers who is more of a street fighter type than your typical mixed martial arts practitioner. Kimbo aka Kevin Ferguson, who became an internet Youtube sensation because of his street fighting exploits has been exposed in the MMA cage as a fluke when he was knocked out cold by MMA journeyman Seth Petruzelli in 14 seconds of the first round last year and his . It's a classic case of too much hype without the backing of a lot of substance. Don't get me wrong, Kimbo is a bad mofo, but in the world of mixed martial arts, he was a toddler amongst men.

But this article is not about Kimbo. Rogers does somewhat fit that mold having about 3 years of MMA experience behind him but the difference for me is the pedigree. Their skillset may be similar- hard hitter, never really tested on the ground (incidentally all of Rogers victories have come by knockout as well so he hasn't really been pushed to go the distance as of yet either) but Rogers packs heavier fists and when they land, can surely knock anything out with two feet. Of his victories, his most recent win against former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski stands out as he obliterated the former UFC heavyweight champion.

I have been following Rogers closely since his first appearance on the now defunct EliteXC- a win against Ralph Kelly in November of 2007. Since then, the big bad banger with the big ugly mohawk from Minnesota has been constantly improving and working on his overall MMA game while beating up every opponent that stood in his way. What he will have to deal with tomorrow on national TV in Emelianenko however is a grizzled veteran, who has an explosive style he hasn't had to deal with in the past and carries a lot of speed for a heavyweight. As far as resume goes, Emelianenko is unparalleled. So where does that put us? Well, Rogers can definitely 'whup' him some Fedor especially if he catches him early, but realistically, the most I can give him is a "punchers chance".

Prediction: Fedor wins by KO in round 1.
