Cooler temperatures mean it may be time to hit up one of the city’s many outdoor cafes for food and drinks. If Fido’s joining you this fall, please consider one of these canine-courteous cafes where your best friend’s not only welcome, but treated like a king (or queen).

Brassier Perrier (1619 Walnut St.,215-568-3000) is where the city’s elite pooches dine with their masters. Enjoy the bistro’s signature French cuisine while taking in the hustle and bustle of busy Walnut Street, a shopper’s paradise.

Bucks County Coffee Co. (4311 Main Street, 215-487-3927) is the sort of place in Manayunk where you can start the morning off right with the Sunday paper and a steaming cup of Joe before walking your dog down Main Street.

Rouge (201 S. 18th St., 215-732-6622) is the place to be seen on Rittenhouse Square…with your pup. Local celebrities living nearby regularly show off while enjoying deluxe cocktails and the famous Rouge burger.

Parc (225 S. 18th St., 215-545-2262), also on Rittenhouse Square, is the perfect spot to enjoy an aperitif after walking your dog in the park. The French-inspired bistro has ample outdoor seating for fair weather socializing. It’s easy to find a seat between lunch and dinner rushes (the restaurant serves a limited menu in the afternoon including a raw bar).

Bar Ferdinand (1030 N. 2nd St., 215-923-1313) on Liberties Walk is one of several hot spots in trendy Northern Liberties where you can take a seat outside with your dog. The restaurant serves up creative tapas and adventurous wine specials.

Belgian Café  (2047 Green St., 215-235-3500) in the tree-lined Art Museum district is friendly to dogs and their owners. Enjoy an enviable Belgian beer selection (one of the best in the city) while your pup laps at his own water dish and checks out the parade of furry friends out for a neighborhood walk. Two other nearby restaurants for dog folks include London Grill (2301 Fairmount Ave., 215-978-4545) and Bishop’s Collar (2349 Fairmount Ave., 215-765-1616). Both restaurants offer outdoor seating from brunch to dinner daily. For dessert, Mug Shots Coffeehouse  (2106 Fairmount Ave., 267-514-7145) is an independent java joint just down the street.

Valanni  (1229 Spruce St., 215-790-9494) is a happening hot spot in the Gayborhood with outdoor seating and a tasty Medi-fusion menu with specialty drinks like the Brazilian Pop and white sangria. Since Kibble doesn’t pay for itself, food and drink specials are plentiful during happy hour. Also in the Gayborhood is Knock (225 S. 12th St., 215-925-1166), where your dog can enjoy a shady spot while you nosh on a salad, entrée and dessert. If you visit for lunch, please let Jeb the bartender know who sent you.

Ten Stone (2063 South St., 215-735-9939) may make the best Bloody Marys in town during Sunday brunch (they come styled with shrimp, olives, fruit and celery). You can refresh after a late-night with Jen the bartender’s spicy concoction, alongside ample orders of egg dishes. The outdoor seating boasts umbrellas for keeping you and your dog cool.

Gigi Restaurant and Lounge (319 Market St., 215-574-8880) in Old City is among a slew of restaurants with outdoor seating that are both dog-friendly and great for people watching. Also check out Patou Restaurant Bar (312 Market St, 215-928-2987) for light fare, Continental (138 Market St., 215-923-6069) for martinis, and Farmicia (15 S. 3rd St., 215-627-6274) for plenty of fresh vegetarian options.

Tavern 17 (2201 S. 17th St., 215-790-1799) offers the ultimate in dog-friendly imbibing during Yappy Hour on the last Thursday of every month (5 – 7 p.m.). Dogs and their owners enjoy drink specials and complimentary dog treats with proceeds benefiting the local SPCA.

Please remember: When taking your family pet to an outdoor café or any public place, make sure the dog is well-trained (no excessive barking and absolutely no biting). And always pick up after your pooch. The ASPCA has helpful information about dog training.
