The Maryland Terrapins were a finalist in the recruitment of forward Matt Pilgrim but eventually lost out over the weekend to Oklahoma State.

Pilgrim was transferring from Kentucky after being told by new head coach John Calipari that they no longer had a scholarship available for him.

He also considered Memphis and Cincinnati before making his final decision.

The forward would have given the Terps additional depth in the low post but certainly isn't a budding star or someone that the team will really miss when the season starts.

After the Stephenson saga ended, I thought the Terps had officially closed up shop for the 2009 class. I think now that the Pilgrim situation has come and gone, Maryland will start looking to 2010 and beyond. They are already off to a terrific start with the 2010 class, so things are looking up from a recruiting standpoint in College Park.
