Here's a quick roundup on the MLB postseason so far.  For more articles from a variety of team examiners, check out Examiner's 2009 MLB Postseason Coverage.

Yankees vs. Twins: The Yankees defeated a tired Twins team in Game 1 behind a solid pitching performance from ace CC Sabathia.  A.J. Burnett, the team’s other big pitching acquisition will make his playoff debut tonight as the Yanks look to take a big advantage.  The losses have been few for the Twins lately, and they’ll try to rally around pitcher Nick Blackburn and they’ll turn to their top lefty bats to solve Burnett.

Red Sox vs. Angels: The Angels and Red Sox seem to meet every post season, with the Sox coming out on top.  The Angels are looking to reverse this trend however and are off to a good start with a 1-0 series lead.  Ace John Lackey held the Red Sox in check, and team leader Torii Hunter provided the offense with a three run homer.  Boston will try to counter with Josh Beckett tonight, a man who’s known for stepping it up in October.

Rockies vs. Phillies: This series is tied, and could be the most competitive of the four division matchups.  Cliff Lee was excellent for the Phils in game 1, allowing only four hits.  Cole Hamels was unable to duplicate that performance, as he was outdueled in a close game by Colorado starter Aaron Cook.

Dodgers vs. Cardinals: The Cardinals were many people’s favorite to advance to the World Series, but they’ve fallen behind by two games to the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The Dodger bullpen earned them their game 1 victory, while lefty starter Clayton Kershaw was excellent in game 2.  Now that the Cards have lost with Cy Young candidates Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright, can they bounce back?
