With 7,000+ nonprofits in San Francisco, there are a variety of causes and interests in our city by the Bay. The following round-up of three very different events covers a lot of territory, so readers should find something for everyone.
The truth is, I'm going back east for a spell and, sadly, can't participate in any of these affairs. Otherwise, Maureen would be popping up all over town in the month of July. I'm counting on my readers to attend and maybe leave a comment or send me an email to let me know how these events inspired, delighted or amazed you.

1. Net Squared's Net Tuesday
Tue. July 14, 6-8 pm
TechSoup Global, 325 Brannan St., 3rd Floor, SF

Those familiar with techsoup know that it's the technology place for nonprofits, so it's a natural for NetSquared, a netwoking group for social change technies, to hold their monthly meet-up at the Brannan Street nonprofit. The focus of the July event is on open-source translation tools.
If your organization is struggling with technology, need website or social media expertise or is working on technology infrastructure as part of its next strategic plan, get to know the folks in Net Squared. They want to help you change the world, even if it's one kilobyte at a time.

Gala benefits are big business, carrying price-tags of hundreds of dollars (gown not included). Of course, that's because benefits raise much-needed dollars for charitable organizations. But, here's a recession-inspired benefit I can get behind. It's free. You'll enjoy the professional artistry of the Choral Society in an open rehearsal. One Verdi Requiem later, you'll enjoy food, drink and bid on some unbelievable deals in the silent auction. Yes - that's the benefit part.
If I have access to a bottomless glass of chardonnay, my bidding pen goes a little crazy. This time, I'll leave the Monday morning "I didn't think I'd actually be the winning bidder" to you, dear reader.
