In 1999, the Dallas Burn turned a nail biter into a monster rout when they scored four goals in the final 10 minutes to drop the Kansas City Wizards, 5-0.
Jason Kreis' two goals and two assists led the way, and it was his first goal that gave Dallas an early 1-0 lead in the 8th minute. But for 72 minutes, Dallas could not add to that lone tally.
K.C. even held a slight edge in time of possession (51 percent). But things took a downturn for the Wizards when defender Uche Okafor was ejected in the 53rd minute. And eventually Dallas picked things up with that one-man advantage.
In the 80th, Chad Deering gave the Burn a 2-0 lead, followed by Paul Broome's first MLS goal in the 84th, Ted Eck in the 89th and Kreis' unassisted goal in the 90th.
At the time, Kreis led MLS with 36 points, netting 13 goals and contributing 10 assists. Eventually Kreis established career bests in goals and assists, leading MLS with 51 points and 15 assists, while tying D.C. United's Roy Lassiter for the most goals with 18. Kreis comfortably holds just about every offensive career record in Dallas Burn/FC Dallas history.
