In 2004, current Real Salt Lake head coach and former Dallas Burn veteran Jason Kreis tied Roy Lassiter with his 88th career goal to share the all-time Major League Soccer goal-scoring lead.
Kreis, who played for RSL and the Burn during his MLS tenure, broke the mark a week later and eventually retired with 108 goals, becoming the first MLS player to eclipse the century mark.
Kreis' 88th goal came in the 49th minute against the Colorado Rapids as he chipped the ball over goalkeeper Joe Cannon for a 1-0 Burn lead. But Colorado's Chris Henderson scored 2 minutes later as the game ended in a 1-all draw.
Kreis has since been passed by Jaime Moreno, Ante Razov, and FC Dallas' Kenny Cooper earlier this season. Taylor Twellman will likely be the next to surpass Kreis, eventually dropping him to fifth all-time after entering the 2009 MLS season in third.
