I am getting things going this week with articles about Girl Groups. Coming to Billings and The Alberta Bair Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on 24 October 2009 are the Ahn Trio, sisters who perform classical music. The Ahn Trio are Angella on violin, Lucia on piano and Maria on cello. Lucia and Maria are twins (born August 30, 1970) and are two years older than Angella ( born June 10, 1972). All three sisters were born in Seoul, South Korea and are American citizens and all three were trained at the prestigious Julliard School of Music in New York City. The Ahn Trio perform from the classical repertoire works from the likes of Dvorák, Shostakovich, and Ravel but also music of modern artists like David Bowie. The Ahn Trio are know to favor multi-media performances incorporating dancers, pop singers, DJs, painters, photography, lighting, ecology, and even kites in past performances.
They have recorded several albums and have earned rave reviews throughout their career. Their discography includes the albums: Paris Rio (1995), Dvorák, Suk, Shostakovich: Piano Trios (1999), Ahn-Plugged (2000), Groovebox (2002) and Lullaby For My Favorite Insomniac (2008). They are currently on tour promoting their newest album.
