Stanley is a 12 year old Chihuahua. The folks at Lost Our Home Pet Foundation note that he is a very quiet dog. He would do great in a home that wants a mellow fellow that only wants to relax and is content with sitting by your side while being petted. He would be best suited in a household with older children that know to respect the fact that he is an older dog that wants to be handled delicately.
Chihuahuas are considered to be devoted, intelligent and have spunky personalities which are often compared to terriers. They are highly adaptable and will do fine living in a house or an apartment. They are known to be fearless, often forgetting that they are a small dog. They have a clannish attitude which means they typically only like to socialize with members of their own breed. This can lead to possibly being suspicious of anyone other than its favorite human. Some may be easily provoked if not trained and socialized properly. Because of this and their small size they may not be a good fit with families with small children as they often handle animals roughly.
Chihuahuas are prone to diseases such as epilepsy and seizures. Since they are so short and have large and protruding eyes they may be more prone to getting eye infections.
Their average lifespan is 15 years.
Stanley’s adoption fee is only $165.00. Included with his adoption is four training sessions with a professional dog trainer. In addition, if all sessions are completed AZ Lost Our Home Pet Foundation will take $20 off his adoption fee.
