Layout created using vellum accents by Shemaine Smith

It’s fun to incorporate different textures of papers for your layouts. Vellum paper by Grafix is fun to work with because it’s very versatile. It can be dry and heat embossed, layered, cut onto shapes and used as backgrounds.

Here's an example of using the vellum paper embossed in a Cuttle-bug embossing numbers folder. I used the embossed sheet for background card stock in this layout and then layered the title over the embossed vellum to ad texture.

Vellum is a very versatile and easy to work with when scrapbooking because there are many ways you can incorporate the paper into your layouts. It can be used as background paper when embossed or layered, torn and distressed. Vellum comes in a rainbow of colors so you can always find the right color to coordinate with other pattern papers you may be using.

Another way to use vellum paper in scrapbooking is to create your own embellishments. Here's an example using Spellbinders dies to cut vellum paper into shapes and use them for scrapbooking embellishments. First cut a 4x6 piece of vellum and place it over the die in your cuttle-bug and run it thru to create a shape. For this example, a butterfly Spellbinders die-cut was used. Once the die was cut, it was then embossed  in a Cuttle-bug folder and layered with a coordinating color of card stock. Some gems were then added and finished with rolled strips of paper for antennas.

Here's a closer look at the embossed vellum butterfly embellishment.

Vellum can also be used to create hand made cards and invitations. It looks very rich when printed on and takes a stamped image with heat embossing well. Here is an example of a hand made card with a stamped and heat embossed sentiment.

And another using a piece of vellum punched with a Martha Stewart border punch as an accent

Grafix vellum is fun and easy to work with on your Scrapbook and card projects.
