Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.  Paul introduces the Abrahamic covenant in the next verse, to substantiate the doctrine of justification by faith. Paul was in fact telling his readers that the Abrahamic covenant was superior to the Law given by Moses. In Galatians 3:17Paul says that even though the law came 430 years after the covenant, the covenant given to Abraham is superior to the law.

Paul goes on to ask :”what then is the purpose of the law?” (verse 19). The law was added until the Seed should come! In other words, there is a fulfillment of the law, through Jesus Christ, which in effect means that we should not place ourselves under the law again. We are now under the Dispensation of Grace, which is simply a theological term to describe God’s Grace is sufficient for all my needs!

Jesus came and fulfilled the law, thus reinstating the Abrahamic covenant once again. Modern day sad you sees would attempt to place us once again under the law, despite the fact that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.

Luke 10:29-37 In the account of the Good Samaritan, we see the following elements.

1.            The first person to come along past the wounded man was the priest. The priest was unable to assist the man and so he moved on without helping.

2.            The second man to come along was the Levite. The Levite too was unable to assist the man, and he too walked on by.

3.            The third man was a Samaritan. Obviously the third man was Jesus Christ. The similarities are obvious. First He was the third man. On the third day of Creation, of created seed. Genesis 1:11. Jesus is so often referred to as the seed. See Genesis 3:15, Galatians 3:16. Jesus is the SEED. God said He would give the earth a SEED that will over throw the darkness on the earth. Seed is one of the most powerful forces upon the face of the earth. Seed forces harvest! If you need a harvest, sow a seed. Seed overthrows causing change.

Back on track…the doctrine of justification by faith is outlined in Romans as follows. Romans 10:10 with the heart one believes to salvation but with the mouth confesses to righteousness. My favorite verse in Romans is found in 14:2 the weak eat only vegetables! Amen. Now I am not judging you, but whatever I eat is blessed – look at Romans 14:14 and again verse 23.  I eat in faith, I live in faith, because to do otherwise is a sin!

This is the Grace of God. Everything you do has to be in faith. You may be cursing yourself with your mouth…declaring some foods to be unclean, is not faith, but law!

My Favourite quotes - by Thomas Jefferson

  • The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in governmen
  • When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.
  • That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves.
