A turkey sandwich is a great way to recharge

The get the most out of your workout it is important to follow up each workout with a meal that contains protein and carbohydrates. Protein aids in muscle recovery and the carbohydrates are a great way to replenish your energy source. Ideally you should eat 30 to 60 minutes after exercising.

Sandwiches are packed with protein at the same time quick and easy. Try making a deli sandwich with low-sodium cold cuts and tomatoes for a source of vitamin C, all on whole wheat bread which provides a source of fiber.  Check out this recipe for a low-fat turkey sandwich.

Granola is another quick option that you can have at anytime! Oats, honey and flax offer protein and healthy fat. Try mixing granola or dried fruit with low-fat yogurt, which is filling and nutritious at the same time.

Another option is a homemade sports recovery drink. By adding dairy products like milk and yogurt you get double the benefits by providing both protein and carbohydrates. Throwing in some fruit will add some flavor and offer electrolytes to support healthy muscle function. A shake with banana, milk and yogurt is quick, easy and yummy!
