Avoid Added Sugars
All sugars (white, brown, honey etc...) add calories to your diet and can accelerate your blood sugar. Another thing to take into consideration is that too much consumption of sugar can increase your risk of heart disease as well as certain cancers. Check labels for foods that have high-fructose, corn syrup or dextrose.
Stay away from Bad Fats
Saturated and trans fats clog your arteries and as a result cause inflammation. An easy way to avoid trans fats is by skipping fried foods and anything that might be made with hydrogenated vegetable oils. By staying clear of high fat meats and sticking to skim milk you will significantly lower your intake of saturated fats.
Increase your Protein
Lean proteins such as chicken and wild salmon help preserve lean body mass. Incorporating protein with each meal can help stabilize your blood sugar levels as well.

Alcohol does a number on your liver and creates a lack of motivation. Try staying clear of that Cosmo and have water, tea, coffee or seltzer instead.
