Have you ever wondered why does water really help you lose weight? The average person does not drink enough water a day and is actually carrying around a few more pounds than they should if they just drank some more H2O. Here is how water can help you drop that extra poundage, your liver metabolizes fat and converts stored fat into an energy source. This organ has other functions however this is one of its main jobs. The liver also has to aid the kidneys when it is not receiving enough water. In order for the kidneys to function on their own they need a substantial water supply in order to work efficiently. If the kidneys are not receiving enough water the liver has to pick up the slack making the productivity of metabolizing fat slower in which case you begin to store fat.
If this routine is not something you normally practice you will find that you will be making more trips to the bathroom than you prefer. Do not worry this will not last forever, the body is flushing out the water it no longer needs and has been storing over time. The body goes into survival mode when it is not getting enough water and begins to store what little water the body may have. Once your water intake is increased you will begin to deplete the extra water weight that maybe in your stomach, ankles and other unsightly areas of your body. If you stick to this new healthy habit your body will eventually adjust (this is called the breaking point) to the new water intake and you will begin to see the benefits.
How much water should you truly be drinking? It’s suggested that you consume at least 8oz glasses of water which is equivalent to two quarts of water a day.
