The tarot can be a very powerful tool for connecting with the triple Goddess.  As it is still the time of the waxing moon, this article will look at using the tarot to connect with the Maiden aspect of the triple Goddess.

Any time you are using the cards a a gateway to connecting with deity, it is a good idea to start by cleansing and setting sacred space.  To cleanse the space, the ace of cups seems appropriate when you are going to work with any aspect of the Goddess connected to the moon.  Place the ace of cups in your projective hand and then walk around the room you are cleansing, visualizing or sensing the pure cleansing energy of water radiating out from the card in your hand and cleansing the entire room.  If you like, as you are walking, you can say something like "By the power of water, I cleanse this space.''  If using the ace of cups does not resonate with you, then try any other card that makes sense to you.  You might try using the moon card to cleanse the space, visualizing or sensing the silver light of the moon radiating out of the card to cleanse the space.  Experiment with your cards until you find the one that seems to you to be best for cleansing.

If you are working with the triple Goddess in any of her aspects, you might want to triple cast your circle, once for the Maiden, once for the Mother and once for the Crone.  If you have never triple cast your circle before, try it and then get a sense of how triple casting feels different from casting a single circle.  If you already have a card that you have been using as a ritual tool, such as the Magician or the ace of swords, you can certainly use that to cast your circle.  Another good choice for casting the circle when working with the triple Goddess is the three of cups, which has associations with the triple Goddess, as well as being a card of celebration, friendship, connection and ritual.  For more information on using tarot for casting circle, see this article http://www.examiner.com/x-10755-Denver-Wicca-Examiner~y2009m6d20-Creative-Circle-Casting.

Once the circle is cast, light a white candle and say a prayer to the Maiden.  You can use one of the ancient prayers to Diana or find a prayer written to whatever Maiden Goddess you feel most connected to.  If you cannot find a prayer to the Maiden that you like, try writing one of your own.  As you light the candle and say the prayer, focus on the intent of inviting the Maiden to join you in the sacred space you have created.

Pick the tarot card that best represents the Maiden to you.  Some cards you might want to consider are the High Priestess, the Strength card and any of the princesses/pages.  Take some time to really look through your entire deck until you find the card that you feel will help you connect with the Maiden.  If you are having trouble selecting a card, ask the Maiden for guidance or simply have the intent to pick the card most appropriate for working with the Maiden and then select a card at random.  Once you have your card, set it in front of you and carefully study it.  If you like, pick the card up and hold it to your third eye or your heart chakra.  Focus your eyes on the card and then slowly let them close.  Visualize yourself stepping into the card with the intent of meeting the Maiden.  Spend some time meditating on the card and visualizing yourself in the card with the Maiden.  Speak to her and ask her any questions that you might have.  When you are done with your card meditation, thank the Maiden for the time she has spent with you and open the circle.  Remember that in the future, you can always use the card you worked with as a gateway to visit the Maiden.
