Try these names or starters: Greensulate and Acorn.

These are two products released from a company worth watching, ECOVATIVE DESIGN. One is an insulation material, called Greensulate. the other is an alternative packaging material, named Acorn.

From Ecovative Design's website:

Acorn™ packaging takes a radically different approach to packaging. Acorn™ is made of agricultural waste materials that come from renewable sources. This environmentally-friendly innovation is just as reliable, easy to use, and affordable as competitive packaging products, like expanded polystyrene. Acorn™ is 100% compostable after use, and can be embedded with grass, flower and plant seeds, which draw upon the material as it breaks down to fuel organic growth.

Greensulate™ is an affordable, environmentally-friendly drop-in replacement for the expanded polystyrene used in cavity walls and structural insulating panels. Greensulate™ is produced from natural byproducts, such as buckwheat hulls and cotton burrs, without heat or light input.

Ecovative Design is featured in the June issue of Popular Science, as a winner of the 2009 Invention Awards! Check it out on page 52. We’ll be getting lots of attention from this great new press.

About the products they are producing, Bayer says, "We truly believe that our biological materials can help people live healthier lives, and build more energy efficient communities while drastically reducing their environmental impact."

We believe he is absolutely correct!
