Depending on who you ask at GM, the Australian built, RWD Pontiac G8 is either completely dead or may potentially be rebadged as a Buick or Chevy.

The G8 has sold is decent numbers with the help of only minimal advertising dollars.  As an additional bonus, the added volume of exporting cars to the U.S. helps GM's Australian factory spread out costs.

According to Automotive News, Tom Stephens, General Motors' vice chairman of global product development had the following to say about a possible Chevrolet Impala SS version of the G8, "I know there's still discussions on it.  But Chevrolet already has several sedans. How many sedans do you need to cover the waterfront?"

Hopefully GM will find a way to keep the G8 around.  I found the car to be a solid performer in need of only a few interior improvements to make it a complete winner.
