I have been quite taken with the Kia Soul ever since its introduction as a concept. I'm just as pleased with the advertising launch behind the Soul, with the fantastic "Kia Soul hamster" spot a resounding success. The ad was created by independent, Los Angeles based, creative agency David&Goliath and it just goes to show that some of the best ideas come from scrappy agencies.
Kia Motors was recently honored by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) with a GOODY award for the commercial. PETA commended Kia and its ad agency for its computer-imagery portraying hip hamsters instead of exploiting them or risking harm. David & Goliath agency, will receive a framed certificate and will be featured on PETA’s website.
The hamster spot has been shown with several different soundtracks. Those folks with a critical eye will notice that the cover art shown on the hamster's iPod changes to reflect the song being played.
My favorite soundtrack is "Colours" by the UK's Calvin Harris. Check out the commercial and while your at it why not listen to the full version of Colours?
