Frequent readers might recall that back in the early part of August, I wrote a piece about Acura considering bringing the European Honda Accord Tourer to the USA as the TSX wagon
Then the Honda Accord Crosstour was officially revealed and everyone freaked out. Amidst the screams of women and children, Acura’s senior manager of product planning, John Watts was secretly plotting the Acura TSX wagon. "I will show them, I will show them all!!!" Watts probably thought to himself. Okay, Watts probably didn't actually think that, but for dramatic effect let's say he did.
Get into the Accord Tourer in this slideshow.
Finally the chosen date, October 28, 2009, a date that has great significance on the Maya calendar (actually it doesn't) had arrived. The press release that Watts and his team had so carefully prepared was ready (again, dramatic effect here folks).
Acura announced today the addition of a TSX sport wagon to its 2011 vehicle lineup. Arriving at Acura dealerships in the Fall of 2010, the TSX sport wagon will be based on the popular TSX sports sedan, which features balanced performance, advanced technology and bold styling. Additional information on the 2011 TSX sport wagon will be announced at a later date.
"Now we shall rule the earth," roared a fictional Watts character that I have created in my head. In actuality this will probably be a niche model that will pick up a few new buyers for Acura. Hopefully a manual transmission will be offered, but that might be a long shot. However, as promised in my earlier report, I'm smiling like Dr. Teeth!
