As you put out your mail tomorrow, don't forget to add a non-perishable food item. This year's Nationanl Stamp Out Hunger food drive by our letter carriers is more important than ever. The National Letter Carriers Association mentioned concern for children of struggling parents who are getting meals at school during the summer months. As someone interested in Maryland education, I want to be sure to get a few jars of peanut butter and other kid friendly lunch supplies out to the mailbox tomorrow.

I hope you will also participate in this important event. Our food banks are really having trouble keeping up with the demand for food and it is scary to think of an already strained system having to provide even more food as kids are getting out of school for summer vacation.
