Aside from a fabulous Thanksgiving meal, I like to make an entrance when dinner is ready in at least a new fall blouse on Turkey-day. With leaner economic spending, being able to add to an existing Fall or Winter wardrobe can be tough for many women, and moms tend to put themselves last after the kids get new shoes and coats.
Fresh dressing doesn’t have to be expensive, however, and discount department stores, such as
Target and
Wal-Mart have new, hip clothing lines that only look expensive. Isaac Mizrahi has a
new collection of dresses perfect for greeting guests this fall. You don’t even have to leave your couch to shop, either. Catalogs such as
Chadwick’s and
Newport News can get you in style via the post office, while allowing you to defer a payment until after Christmas. Chadwick’s has a fantastic
Austrian-inspired sweater that would be perfect for the holidays, and you’ll find
Simply Vera Wang fashion on sale this week at
Kohl’s.
If you are looking for more designer wear on a budget, our area is brimming with outlet malls, such as
Potomac Mills and
Leesburg Outlet, where you will find everything from Coach to Arani.
Need to accessorize? I love adding a string of neutral-colored beads to a warm-colored turtleneck or adding dangle earrings to a feminine neckline.
New York and Company has a fun collection of baubles that includes faux gem brooches, perfect for a jacket.
Etsy has every type of jewelry, and participating artists often make custom orders, too.
Payless Shoe Source and
DSW both offer new boot collections, and they are tops for a quick-n-easy pair of shoes to match any outfit.
It is possible to shop for the entire family and not feel a pang of guilt about shopping for yourself. You don’t have to sacrifice looking great even if you can only shop for bargains.
