Warmer Washington weather may boost your energy for a little spring cleaning, and that's a good thing if you are finding that you have an affinity for DIY projects.  Even the youngest members of your "cleaning team" may have a role if you want to take your household skills to a charity like Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity is often, no pun intended, a household name.  Founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller, Habitat encourages people from all backgrounds to join their team effort in building and restoring houses for families in need.

According to their website, Habitat has built more than 300,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1.5 million people in more than 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.  When building new houses isn't possible, the Prince William County chapter of Habitat says they put an emphasis on restoring houses with sound structure and provide hope to existing homeowners.

Habitat doesn't just support single-family homes, as their efforts  also include grassroots community projects such as painting schools during the summer.
