All moms and dads need an easy photo shoot. You know the kind, kids in matching outfits smiling in front of the Christmas tree while you beg and barter with them…just five pictures and you can have a lollipop, go outside and play, a new car…

Today was our holiday photo shoot with Terra Chandler from Terra Dawn Photography, and what a treat! Her easy-going manner and sense of humor made working with two 12-year olds and a 4-year old seem effortless.

We took various holiday photos, some traditional and some funky, as well as stock photos for my shop, Sassy Grace. While my children endured my four mandatory outfit changes and various hairbrushing, Terra set up and moved her equipment to four different locations in the house, measured and tested the light and patiently instructed the kids to get just the perfect shots. She didn’t over-direct and really listened to what my vision was for the end-product. Then, she made it happen!

Terra is still available for holiday photo taking (and beyond) all through the Washington metropolitan area, and please check out the recent Potomac News and Journal Messenger article on this talented photographer. Just love interesting portraiture and novelty character prints? Visit her shop!

Moms, pamper yourself with some fashion or glamour shots while Dad takes the kids out for a bite.  We all deserve to feel like a model, even if the photos go "no where" else but a pretty frame on our dresser or wall or our husband's suitcase for a business trip.

Terra even goes that extra mile. When she is done with the editing, one of her options is to provide you with high-resolution picture files to upload to your favorite holiday card printer (Clark Labs, Staples, Fedex/Kinkos, CVS) or to enlarge and print for framing. How many photographers offer such range and flexibility with your photos!

Don’t forget that photos do make great gifts. We really love ordering that special canvas for the grandparents or even our home. Pixel-This offers high-quality, high-color, terrific-finish canvases and a terrific price. There is even an EBay store with convenient Buy-It-Now canvases. Contact Glen for his holiday deadlines.

Aiming to make holidays a bit easier for Mom and Dad, take the tip and get those photos done professionally but easy. Really, snap and enjoy – er, without “snapping in two.”
