Where Did the Mold Come From in the Wysong Dog Food?
Heat, excess moisture, and oxygen are the perfect combination for mold spores to bloom into mold. According to Wysong, they believe the mold is as a result of the unusually high humidity and heat that was experienced the day the affected batches were produced – something Houstonians can empathize with. However, it was a malfunction in the moisture checking device that is actually to blame, because had it been working correctly, Wysong could have isolated the problem.
Could my Dog Die from Eating Recalled Batches of Wysong Dog Food?
According to Wysong, a dog that has eaten dry dog food affected by the recall will most likely only suffer from diarrhea; however, owners should not continue to feed their dogs recalled dog food regardless if symptoms have occurred or not.
If are worried about your dog consuming recalled dog food, contact your dog's veterinarian.
