I'm always stumbling through various browsers in competing search engines and recently swooped in upon the magical World of Swoopo. OMG. It is The Ultimate Clicker Training Game for me!
First off, when I work with private clients, in an initial (and often only) session, I
spend much of the time teaching the dog using a clicker (first charging the clicker it if necessary) while interpreting the experience verbally to clients. My timing and patience as well as dog sense has been honed to a fine point from years of hands on experience with thousands of dogs. When the Power of the Clicker is handed over to clients, now the charging of the clicker for people begins. It is now a kinesthetic experience between the eye hand coordination along with natural skills -- wherever they start -- in developing the timing needed for clicker training.
There always an attrition rate of people who discontinue using a clicker and there are lots of reasons why. In general terms, despite the specific excuses, for most it is because clients goals are pretty limited to basic manners or there is some odd acceptance of lower expectations they should get with their dog despite my efforts and coaching. This is a normal bell curve experience in any creative endeavor that takes time to develop -- this just includes sentient beings.
On the other hand, the clients who want to go above and beyond with their dog and who embrace the power of clicker training in achieving greater goals faster and more efficiently, are inspiring. I love to hear of even small incremental accomplishments achieved by hard working people/dog partners who embrace the process.
Trying to figure out the incentive to motivate someone to develop great eye hand coordination has now been solved. You have to have computer and internet access and be old enough and credit worthy enough to participate, but this entertainment auction shopping playground allows you to practice exquisite timing and develop patience with potential big kahuna payoffs of great electronics if your timing is the best for your competitors.
Given I desire a new laptop AND a new Ipod Touch, this is the place for me. I just finished my very first auction. The adrenalin rush alone was worth the bids I placed but at the last, I mean the very last second, I lost out to a quicker trigger finger.
I think I'll teach my dog a new trick. And then I'll be back!
