Toula, a border collie from Michigan, currently stars in Michael Mann’s gangster film, “Public Enemies” which opened last night. Toula was kind enough to take some time away from her publicity tours and afternoon naps to answer a few questions
Tiger: What's the most exotic animal you’ve ever worked with?
Toula: Well, although most humans don’t consider them exotic, I think horses are weird. They are giant moving things that snort and kick. And you know what is most perplexing about horses? They can potty whenever they feel like it! And it’s a BIG potty! And it smells funny. Oh – and it’s great to roll in!
Tiger: Have you ever tasted it?
Toula: Oh yes. Yummy… But don’t tell my mommy! You know, everyone of them has a different personality. And some of them -- well I just don’t know. And then when they start going to the bathroom – WATCH OUT! You want me in a LAY-STAY? I don’t think so! That stuff splatters!
Tiger: What are your favorite qualities in a human?
Toula: That's easy. They have to like doggie kisses.
Tiger: Me too! Did you get to kiss Johnny Depp?
Toula: I did! Absolutely! And a couple of the other actors. Johnny even gave me a big hug. (We’re on a first name basis, now.)
Tiger: Which star’s face is the best to lick?
Toula: Oh – Johnny Depp’s. Definitely. It was really nice to work with him.
Tiger: What about Christian Bale ?
Toula: We didn’t get to work with Christian Bale. He wasn’t in our scene. But Randy Ryan was there – he played an FBI agent. I gave him a lot of kisses, too. He spent a lot of time with me, hanging outside his trailer.
Tiger: Who gives the best tummy rubs?
Toula: I'd have to say my Mom. When she takes a deep sigh and and then I take a deep sigh -- [sigh] -- life is good.
Tiger: What was the funniest thing a human ever wanted you to do....?
Toula: I think that would be when my mom taught me how to flush the toilet. I mean – huh? She wants me to do what?? Why are you teaching me this?
