I’m not sure who came up with this category, or why… but the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) released it’s top 4 movies in the Best  "Animal Abuse/Dog Actor" category.

First place goes to “Shiloh” (1996), the story of an abused beagle who runs away from his owner. On the road, he meets young Marty Preston and follows him home.

Number 2: “Animal Farm” (1999 TV movie).  Shame on you if you didn’t read the book in high school, but here’s the plot: the animals of a farm successfully revolt against its human owner, only to slide into a more brutal tyranny among themselves.

Coming in third: “A Dog of Flanders.” (1935) This sad movie is an adaptation of Ouida's sentimental classic about a poor Flemish boy named Nello who moves in with his grandfather when his parents die. One day, Nello finds a dog who was almost beaten to death and names him Patrasche.

And finally: “Land of the Giants” (1968 TV series) -- episode: “Every Dog Needs a Boy.” Synopsis: When Chipper is injured by a giant dog, Barry and the others must turn to a giant veterinarian and his sadistic son for assistance.
