Alice, the maid and Tiger

Tiger – whose name was also Tiger, was a mixed-breed dog owned by Lou Scumacher and trained by Joe Hornok. Early in the first season of “The Brady Bunch, ” during the filming of "Katchoo" (the episode where Jan learns she is allergic to Tiger's flea powder) the original Tiger was suddenly and unexpectedly replaced. It was assumed that he had been hit by a car and killed. When a replacement dog proved problematic, the producers decided the dog would only appear when essential to the plot. “Tiger” the character, appeared in about half the episodes in the first season and about half a dozen episodes in the second season. "The Impractical Joker" which aired in 1971, marked Tiger’s last official appearance, although "What Goes Up....." is considered the final appearance due to this episode being filmed before "What Goes Up...”

Some time later, Tiger the original was found alive and went on to star alongside Don Johnson in the 1974 tongue-in-cheek post-apocalyptic science fiction film "A Boy and His Dog."
