Cheeseburger

The original Starz Cafe closed it's doors a few weeks ago, but we all guessed it was because so many businesses were pulling out, of that location.  We couldn't wait for it to open it's doors again, to it's faithful customers.

It is now on U.S.19, on the south west side of the bridge, in Port Richey.

When we checked it out Tammy, one of the waitresses that I have known for many years, greeted us.  She let us know that Diane Palmer, the owner, wasn't there but she would be happy to talk about the cafe.

We were hungry, and as the menu hasn't changed hubby went for the biscuits and gravy, and I had a cheeseburger and fries.

While the food was being cooked Tammy told me that Diane has been in the restaurant business for over twenty years.  Her faithful customers have followed her from Tarpon Springs to Hudson, then to Little Road, New Port Richey, and now to U.S.19.  The 'regulars' say it is like eating at home, it has a friendly atmosphere, and the food is good.

Our meals came out and the sausage gravy, on the biscuits and gravy was just amazing.  I used to go to the original Starz location to get one egg, home fries with the sausage gravy on them, and toast.

The cheese burger was enormous as it was a full half pounder.  I cut mine in half and knew that some would be going home with me.  The meal looked great, and had a really good flavor to it.

The cafe has had a lot of work done on it.  I believe it was a rental car business before.  It is clean, bright, and cheerful.  Tammy even took me into the kitchen, because they are so proud, of their cleanliness.

So if you are thinking of eating breakfast or lunch out, and want to try an old favorite in a new place, then head for Starz.  Tammy, Vi, and Keith will be happy to serve you.  Also Diane's daughter works in the kitchen, so it is a family run and operated cafe.

The cafe seats 72 people and can seat small parties.  They do stay open later on a Friday for all you can eat fish fry for $6.50, half a rack of baby back ribs $6.95, and a full rack for $11.95.

Starz Cafe is open every day from 7.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. apart from Friday night when it is open to 8.00 p.m.

Look out for the second part of their story.  It will be about the policeman that loved their food and more about the menu.
