What the Festival is all about

 Guess what I have in the house right now, Plant City Strawberries.

Now is the time to buy your tickets for the Florida Strawberry Festival, held every year, in Plant City. The tickets go on sale February 5th. However, if you purchase them from your local Sweetbay store, you will get savings of up to $2 per ticket off. The retail price is $8 for adults, and $4 for children age 6 through 12 years old.

The Strawberry Festival starts on February 26th and runs until March 8th, 2009.

Hubby and I have been on several occasions, and we go for the food. There is nothing better than sampling strawberries from the city where they were grown. These are far better, than the ones I purchased yesterday, in a local store. They are at the peak of ripeness, and have that luscious taste, that we hanker for.

There are over 5,000 acres of strawberries in our local area, and approximately 2,600 farms in Hillsborough County. These give us the fruits and vegetables for our tables.

So you may be thinking about attending one, or some of the Country Shows at the festival, but don't forget what started it. The strawberries, themselves.

An alternative way of getting your tickets is to telephone 813-754-1996 and press 2. You will also be able to purchase tickets for the shows. The prices vary, but for Brenda Lee they are $10 and $15, and Kool & the Gang, $15 and $20, just to give you an idea.
