Today the fridge, freezer, and cupboards were looking low, so I headed out to shop. I made my list, and then went to Super Wal-Mart first, and then planned on completing my shop at Save a lot.

As I was walking around Wal-Mart I purchased items that I knew were cheap:

Their own brand of yogurts at 44 cents. Save a lot price is 50 cents.

Brown and serve sausages 98 cents, compared to $1.19.

Monkey bread reduced to $1.50. Raisin bread runs around $3.

Store baked rolls reduced to $.1.50. This item not available at Save a lot.

Own brand of sugar free lemonade powder $1.76. Brand name at Save a lot around $3.

As I had purchased 6 yogurts, 3 of the sausages, and 2 lemonade, I saved approximately $6.

My other stop was at Save a lot.

I bought bananas at 3 lbs for a dollar compared with 69 cents a pound at Wal-Mart.

California mix frozen vegetables for $1.19 compared to $1.29.

Seedless grapes at $1.29 lb compared to $1.69 a lb.

Their own brand of Raisin bran cereal at $1.79. Wal-Mart didn't have any in stock but they are normally around $2.15 a box.

8 oz. blocks of sharp cheddar cheese for $1.79 compared to $2.29.

Roma tomatoes at 58 cents a lb instead of Wal-Mart 89 cents a lb

.

On this second shop I saved $4.20, as I purchased 2 Raisin bran, and 2 packs of cheese..

Total savings approximately $10.20. This is on a $62 shop, as there are only 2 of us. By checking prices, and I didn't use coupons, as I mainly purchased store brands, a family could make huge savings on a larger number of items. So rather than give your money to the supermarkets, shop frugal, and keep the rest of the money in your account.

If you like saving money then check out, Shepherd's Pie for $1.50 a portion, and Free food and drink on your birthday.
