When driving along Ridge Road, Port Richey, I noticed a 'now open' sign. It was Pompeo's Pizzeria & Restaurant. This is in the next plaza to my old restaurant, Susie's, and has changed hands dozens of times over the years.
Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed a special of, '2 slices of pizza and soda for $3.50', also a 'small cheese pizza for just $5'. I was told that this is a 14 inch pizza, and often families come in, and share one.
Two of the owners were there, Raymond in the front of the house, and Pompeo, working the kitchen. Ray told me that the family had been in the restaurant trade for 30 years, 18 of these in St. Petersburg. There origins are from Italy and everything is homemade, including the dough. Pompeo came out of the kitchen and beckoned me to follow him. There I saw the huge saucepan of tomatoes, that cook for 12 to 14 hours, before being turned into the tomato sauce.
Pompeo's regular menu items are appetizers, salads, wings, meat entrees, dinners, pizza hoagies, cold hoagies, hot hoagies, burgers, calzones, and pizza. What I loved was their specials menu. Yes, they have 15 lunch specials with items such as, hot meatball hoagie, and sausage hoagie, for $2.50. They also have dinners on this lunch menu for $4.99. It is available from 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
The restaurant is friendly and clean. They do take out, and delivery. The delivery area is from Holiday to S.R.52, at no charge.
They are open from 11.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. every day of the week. Check out their website for the full menu and a 10% off coupon.
