We were at the Polish Club for their New Year's Eve party, and that is where we met John and Marie. The table was full, with platters of sausage and cheese, from their store. We were asked to sample their wares and promised to visit.
Hubby and I found Goral Polish Deli, on U.S. Hwy 19, in the Center Plaza. It lays back a little from the road and is between S.R. 54 and Trouble Creek.
If you are Polish, or love European food, then this is the shop for you.
On the counter top are Chrusciki, (Angel wings) and Paczki, which are similar to donuts, but are filled with plum, or rose hip. I tried the plum one, and it isn't sugary or as sweet as a donut, which I preferred.
Then the display units have deli meats, sausages, some of which are homemade, smoked ribs and bacon, a great selection of different cheese, some of which I haven't eaten in ages. Here are a few items to wet your appetite: Edam, Gouda, Ser Podlaski cheese, Kazztelariski cheese, Bavarian liver sausage, Krupnior blood sausage, smoked chicken, and Weselma sausage.
At the rear of the store is a freezer full of different kinds of Pierogis, and I am told that they do an incredible trade in these. They also have their 'Hunter Stew', which is homemade, and in individual cartons. This is frozen too so remember to take an ice box with you.
In the middle are shelves of every kind of food you can think of. From juice, cookies, flour, teas, pasty, jams, dried beans, sauerkraut, cake mixes, assorted pudding mixes, soup mixes, and so much more. At the side of the store are Polish beer and wine..
