Olympic Flame Restaurant has a great location, opposite Sam's Club, on Trouble Creek Road.
This restaurant has had several names, and changed hands, over the years.
I was at a function recently, and C.J., who used to be a server at our old restaurant, told us that she was working here.
We went at lunchtime, but ended up having breakfast. When I saw that they served potato pancakes I just had to have them. Hubby decided on the specialty omelet, which is the Olympic Flame omelet.
While we were waiting for our food, I noticed that this restaurant is clean, and that there is plenty of room between tables. So many Mom and Pop restaurants have you almost in the lap, of the person, on the next table.
Our food came out and the portions were huge. My 2 potato pancakes came with 2 eggs, 2 sausage and toast. The omelet almost filled the plate as you can see by the picture.
We both really struggled to finish our food, and ended up with a 'to go' box for part of the omelet and a potato pancake. I so enjoyed the potato pancakes with sour cream and applesauce.
We got to the restaurant a little late and were the last to leave. Nick, the owner, came over and I asked him a little about himself. He was born in Greece and moved to the states, at age 11. He has been in the food industry for 30 years.
I asked him, what he loved most about his restaurant, and the work he does. The answer came back that he loves dealing with people, mingling with the customers, and is proud to do the cooking. He enjoys making the Greek gyros, Greek salads, and souvlaki.
Olympic Flame is located at 5003 Trouble Creek Road, New Port Richey. Telephone 727-842-5906.
The restaurant is open 6 days a week, from 7.30 a.m., to 2.00 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.
Nick is adding new items to the menu at the moment, which I will cover next time.
