When we were drooling over our All-You-Can-Eat BBQ Baby Back Ribs at Sam Seltzer's in Port Richey, the lady at the next table commented to me on how great everything was. We introduced ourselves and I found out that they were Julie and Tom, who now live here, but were originally from Ohio. She told me that for the past five years they have arranged a Fireman's reunion at this restaurant.
Every year they were asked to give a final number, which normally ran around 60 people. The day before their phone would be off the wall with people adding to the list. The staff at Sam Seltzer's didn't bat an eyelid when the number went up to 68, 72, and then 78 people would turn up. She said it was wonderful how they always accommodate them. Can you believe they had separate checks, and not one complaint with 70 or more people, over the five year period. She said that the food was consistently good, excellent service, and that they went out of their way to make it a success. What's more even with this amount of people they didn't add in a gratuity. They have banqueting rooms and will cater for up to 80 people.
I told them that I dabble in writing and would they mind me writing their story? There was a big smile on Julie and Tom's faces and they said that they would love it. Julie even told me that she is planning a Red Hat function in November and I bet you can guess where they are having it.
