Hilltop Cafe is a little restaurant that we use most Saturday mornings. We meet up with friends and it is more socializing than finding the best place to eat. That said, the food is tasty.

As I am such a small eater hubby and I alway get the basic breakfast of 1 egg, home fries, and toast @ $2.45. This is more expensive that the other restaurants we use, Starz is $1.45 and Susie's $2.05, but paying more once a week is not important. The egg is always cooked perfectly, and I love the home fries because they are seasoned well. The only problem that often occurs is that the wheat bread toasts up really hard. A couple of times I have asked to have it changed.

I believe that they are hurting because of people watching their pennies. They now have a banner out by the street offering the 1 egg breakfast, including coffee for just $1.99. This is Monday through Friday from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. They also have the same breakfast with either 2 bacon or sausage links, and coffee for $2.99. They should be doing a much better trade during these times.

So does this mean that restaurants will be lowering their prices? I really don't think that will be the case, but I do believe that they will be offering far more specials, to entice customers to come through the door.

Hilltop Cafe is located at:

9322 Little Road,

New Port Richey,

Fl 34654.

Telephone 727-862-3333.

Open Monday - Friday from 6.00 a.m. - 2.30 p.m. Saturday 6.30 a.m. - 2.00 p.m. and Sunday 7.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
