
Has San Francisco had enough of Giants pitcher Barry Zito? According to clothing company True Religion, the city needs a huge billboard with their new model. Soon, we will see the 10-17 pitcher grace a billboard on Bush Street and Van Ness Avenue.

After failing to find a perfect fit for the next ad campaign, a True Religion executive discovered Zito as he browsed through a California tourism magazine. Thinking he was a musician (Zito posed with his guitar), the executive found him to be the ideal candidate for the fall advertisements.
Even after learning Zito was actually a baseball player, the exec was sold; Barry Zito had “the look.”
With his less-than-stellar 2008 performance, Zito was hesistant to promote any product. However, he agreed to the modeling gig once he learned the company was after him because his appearance, rather than his status, fit their brand image.
"What's great is that they don't want my name,'' Zito said. "I'm just strictly a model. Who knows? Maybe it'll open up other doors. It's always fun to be involved in different things.''
Strictly a model, huh? At least we know that when required to stand still, he can follow direction perfectly. Now if he can just have the same focus on the mound…
