One of the San Francisco Giants' key mid-season signings is returning for at least two more years.
Acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Freddy Sanchez went 29-for-102 (.284) with one home run and seven RBI in 25 games for San Francisco. Although his time with the Giants was peppered with injury, his contribution was truly felt on the offense.
"We are pleased to have Freddy in a Giants uniform for at least the next two years as we continue to improve our club," General Manager Brian Sabean said through a press release. "We saw a glimpse of him this past season and will look forward to his All-Star caliber play at the top of our lineup and in the middle of our infield. He provides a steady veteran presence and professional approach."
