If there was one selling point for MLB, it’s that their games are the most affordable of the four major U.S. professional sports. Baseball knows it and wants everyone else to be aware.

Luckily for Bay Area baseball fans, there will be no price increase for tickets in the 2009 season.

The San Francisco Giants are reportedly one of the teams that have frozen ticket prices for 2009. In 2008, standing room only tickets were the cheapest, at $20 on a weekday. On the other side of the spectrum, the priciest tickets were $120 for Premium Field Club or Lexus Dugout Club tickets for a premium game.

If those prices are still a bit high for baseball fans, the ball club across the Bay Bridge is offering better deals.

The Oakland Athletics are one of the teams that will be lowering prices in certain sections for the 2009 season. For individual games, Field Level Outfield tickets will go down from $30 to $26. Certain Lower Bowl tickets will go from $35 to $30.  Both sections were affordable to begin with and this decrease in pricing is well worth the money.

A popular promotion, “$2 Wednesday,” will return with more seats available for the great low price. If you’re looking for a game on a budget, there you go! Bring your own snacks, take public transportation (or park at the Bart station), and you can attend a game for less money that a movie!
