I was on a hunt last night for this story to find specific curriculum choices for those parents who have chosen to homeschool their autistic children. However, I could not find a website or source with that purpose. However, since children with autism usually have normal to above-average IQ, it makes sense that the curriculum used by other parents would be the same for children with autism. There are so many curriculum choices out there that a parent can purchase that it is hard to know which one would be best.

I found out that most major curriculum vendors put together "curriculum fairs" to show off their products to prospective parents. I have searched all over Oklahoma for such a fair that might be nearby Oklahoma City, if not within the city limits. No luck.

One thing I did find that I think may be even better is Curriculum-Fair-In-A-Box. This product has two levels that a parent may purchase, one comes with a portfolio kid and the other does not. After investigating the costs of attending a curriculum fair, this option is still even cheaper. Also, at the fair, one still just gets to hear and read about the choices, same as from home on a computer, but with the Curriculum-In-a-Box, the parents get to try each vendor's product.

This ability to "try before you buy" is what stood out for me. It is hard to know which curriculum your child is going to respond to. Some curriculum packages can costs up to $500 a year! What a headache that could be if your child does not respond to that type of lesson teaching. Using curriculum-fair-in-a-box allows the parents to pick and choose the child's curriculum style from top vendors for an affordable rate.
