A recent game show from NBC has spurred Microsoft into creating a new game version for Xbox Live subscribers. (Highly addictive, if I do say so myself.) Known as 1 vs. 100, the Xbox game allows you to compete with other players through Xbox Live for points and even prizes!
To play, you must be an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, meaning that you pay for your subscription to play online games through Microsoft. You can check your subscription status by selecting "Memberships" under the "My Xbox" section of your Xbox (known as the NXE).
There are two versions of the game: Extended Play and Live. Typically Extended Play is a simple version of the game you'll play, shown in green while the Live version is shown in a light-orange, both with scheduled dates and times of the events when selected from the NXE. I will explain about Extended Play in this article here, but also see the links below for information about the Live version.
Extended Play rules are pretty simple: Try to "knockout" your fellow opponents by answering trivia questions quickly and correctly to increase your score and increase sweepstakes entries. Questions pop up on the screen at random with each choice showing up one-at-a-time below the question. Select your answer by pressing the corresponding button on your controller before time runs out, and wait for the correct answer to display. If correct, you get points based on how many of the other players answered incorrectly (known as "knockouts"). The more incorrect answers The Mob gave, the higher your score. If answered incorrectly, no points are awarded except for speed and other bonuses, as explained below.
Here are a few bonuses to get higher points in the game as well!
Speaking of sweepstakes, each time you answer a question in Extended Play, right or wrong, you are given one entry into playing in the Live Version of 1 vs. 100 up to a maximum of 500 entries! You then get the chance to play as either The One or The Mob in the Live version if you happen to be selected. You can also compete for additional prizes in this version if you happen to win, so play often to increase your chances!
