So, we all know of the Chinatown bus making the the NYC/Boston run in record time. How about some more comfortable options?
- Amtrak's Acela express train. Much faster and snazzier than the regular Amtrak rail cars, the Acela features first class, business class, a quiet car, club cafe and great service onboard. While the Acela makes the trip all the way to Washington, DC, the NYC/Boston route takes about three and a half hours. Perfect to use the time to catch up on work, read your book or take a power nap. - Take the shuttle. If you don't want to deal with train schedules and stops, you can always fly. Several carriers such as Jetblue, American and Delta have shuttles several times a day to and from JFK and Logan International. The cost is comparable to the train, though you still have to deal with long security lines and a flat cab fare from JFK to Manhattan.
- Try the Limoliner. Though I haven't taken this luxe bus myself, I've heard and read good things about this alternative to the Peter Pan and Chinatown buses. Though the Limoliner goes express from Boston to NYC and back, it also offers stops at Hartford and Framingham. Cost is $80 each way, and amenities include unlimited wi-fi (yay!), worktables for meetings, cell-free zones, on-board washroom, a personal attendant, leather seats and more.
Didi's note: However you get to Boston, remember to pack an extra magazine or bring more work with you. The traffic can be very unpredictable, and delays can come out of nowhere.
