Today the City of Vancouver will hold a ceremonial handover of the Olympic and Paralympic Village to the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC).  The official ceremony begins at 10:30 AM at the Salt Building with Mayor Gregor Robertson officially handing over the keys to the Olympic and Paralympic Village Vancouver to VANOC CEO John Furlong.  Other participants will include Peter Malek, CEO, Millennium Development Corporation; Aleisha Cline, 2010 Olympic hopeful in Ski Cross; and Sonja Gaudet, Paralympian (Wheelchair Curling) and 2010 hopeful.  The ceremony will also include First Nation drummers, a blessing by Musqueam First Naton Elder Larry Gant and a performance by the Vancouver School Board Honour Youth Choir.

Tonight at 6:30, the 100 Day Celebration Event will be held at the Vancouver Convention Center.  There will be a lighting of the new Olympic Rings installation, floating in Burrard Inlet outside the convention center.  Honourable Mary McNeil, Minister of State for the Olympics and ActNowBC, John Furlong, Chief Executive Officer, VANOC, the Olympic Mascots, and other sport youth and athletic ambassadors will participate in the lighting ceremony.
