Father's Day gifts (part I): fragrances for him

With Father’s Day almost here, the stylish gift of fragrance comes to mind, and this is the perfect opportunity to dress him the way you want, have him smelling the way you like, and expose him to something different outside of what he has already.

For starters, good fragrance never hurts a man, you can dress him nicely and polish him up, but the wrong scent will take away from the outfit, the moment, and the evening. When he walks past, his fragrance should make your head turn in his direction as you marvel to yourself at how good he smells. Some of my favorite picks for men’s fragrances include L’eau D’issey by Issey Miyake, Eau Fraîche (blue) by Versace, Brit For Men by Burberry, Light Blue for men by Dolce & Gabbana, Aqva Pour Homme by Bvgalri, and Aqua Di GIO by Giorgio Armani.

There are so many good scents to choose from, more noteworthy fragrances to experiment with that also come highly recommended by other men include Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez,  Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Prada, John Varvatos, Chrome Azzaro, Tommy Bahama, Corduroy Cologne by Zirh International, and Jean Paul Gaultier.

If you’re unsure of where to begin your shopping, Towson Towne Center would be a good place start. The Nordstrom and Macy’s carry most of the fragrances listed. There is also a fragrance store by the name of Perfume Galaxy (they also have a location downtown on E. Pratt St.) located on the upper level near Macy’s that has a nice selection of fragrances. After your initial purchase at Perfume Galaxy, you can receive 10% off every purchase every time you visit the store (you can also use this discount for sale items), make sure to check the return policy (especially if you’re purchasing a gift), sometimes smaller stores offer no returns after purchases only exchanges. However, if you’re looking to purchase a fragrance gift set, you may save more at Macy’s, especially if they’re having a sale, a good tip would be to check in advance or online, Macy’s has sales on their merchandise regularly.

If there’s an upscale fragrance that you’re really set on getting as a gift for Father’s Day, and you’re having trouble finding it, other locations to check include Bloomindales in Chevy Chase, MD; Saks 5th Avenue in Chevy Chase, MD; Off 5th in Arundel Mills and Neiman Marcus in Arundel Mills.
