As the country continues to digest and to move past the Chris Brown and Rihanna saga in regards to their much publicized altercation, the National Coalition For Men are demanding that Rihanna speaks out about her violence towards Chris Brown.

In response to Rihanna’s interview with Glamour Magazine, an interview that marked the first time Rihanna broke her silence about her physical altercation with then boyfriend Chris Brown, the National Coalition For Men are asking for Rihanna to be up front and honest about her violence towards Chris Brown in addition to discussing Chris Brown’s violence towards her.

The group referenced the police report given at the time of the incident where it was recorded that Rihanna struck Brown in the face “numerous times” before Chris assaulted her. Though NCFM admits that Rihanna hitting Chris Brown first does not justify his more severe assault, they believe that if Rihanna is looking to “shed light on the reality of domestic violence” she should make it her responsibility to speak out about her own violent behavior as well.

The National Coalition For Men believes that it is vital for Rihanna not to ignore her violent behavior simply so that her message does not appear to be one-sided, in the end throwing a veil over female violence in relationships.

NCFM [National Coalition For Men] purports although that would not justify his more severe assault, her violence should not be ignored, and if she does not "woman up" to it then her message will be the usual one-sided double standards that leave female perpetration covered up. The saying, "There is no excuse for domestic violence," applies to both sexes. Female violence in relationships is not rare but is often hypocritically deemed acceptable or humorous, such as in the film, Sideways. It is part of the cycle of domestic violence, which cannot be stopped without addressing the problem honestly. Children are damaged just by witnessing domestic violence, regardless of its severity.

In addition to her Glamour magazine interview, Rihanna took part in a 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer which aired on Friday (11.06). Chris Brown also appeared in an interview with MTV's Sway on Friday in their special "Chris Brown: The Interview."

Rihanna is gearing up to release her album Rated R which is scheduled for a November 23 release while Chris Brown is set to release his album Graffiti on December 8.
