The flu struck again and this time, it was Lacey Schwimmer who was under the weather. Mark Dacascos was filming his show, "Iron Chef," in New York when it happened.
Tony Dovolani took time to practice with Dacascos on Friday but Dovolani couldn't perform with Dacascos. So back in Los Angeles on Saturday, Anna Trebunskaya, former partner of the eliminated Chuck Liddell came into to sub, giving Dacascos two days to learn two dances: his samba and the team paso doble.
Pretty crazy? Hopefully, this won't be like SYTYCD where replacement dancer was sent home. Dacascos had been improving and was even tied for first in the individual dances last week for his jitterbug for which he earned a 26 (Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough also earned a 26 for their waltz).
Dacascos was dressed in a black shirt and pants while Trebunskaya was dressed in a green bra top and sarong-like skirt. Performing the samba to Will Smith's "Switch," they didn't do well with any of the judges.
Carrie Ann Inaba said it was a complete mess, disjointed and didn't flow.
Len Goodman said the samba was a difficult dance and with the three partners over the weekend, that was a bad combination. He thought it wasn't terrible, all things considred and thought Dacascos coped well.
Bruno Tonioli said the routine was like kung fu panda does the samba on the Planet of the Apes.
The samba was performed during week 3. That week, Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough turned in the high score for that dance with 23. Michael Irvin and Anna Demidova were the low score of the evening with 14. The other couples performing the samba that week have been eliminated (Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Ballas, Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebuskaya and Tom DeLay and Cheryl Burke).
Dacascos and Trebunskaya ended up at the bottom of the leader board for both the individual dances and after the team competition. Hopefully, this off week won't mean that Dacascos will be off the show on Tuesday. Dacascos and Schwimmer had just earned a 26 for the jitterbug last week.
