
It was a romance made for country music and solidified during season 8 of "Dancing with the Stars," professional dancer and rising country music star Julianne Hough and country music singer Chuck Wicks looked like they'd be making beautiful music together. Yet this week, they announced they had broken up according to People.com.
Hough and Wicks started dating in August 2008. They had toured together during that summer with Brad Paisley. Later, on season 8 of "Dancing with the Stars, they danced together from 9 March 2009 until their elimination on 28 April 2009. That season would be won by Olympic gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson and Mark Ballas.
Dancing together, Hough and Wicks would get their best score during week 7, performing a samba to "Baila, Baila" by Angela Via (featuring Joe Budden).
Hough had previously won the mirrorball trophy dancing with Apolo Anton Ohno during season 4 and Helio Castroneves during season 5. During season 8, she and her brother Derek Hough were selected in the Macy's Design a Dance contest where they where chosen by the audience to perform a jive routine to "Great Balls of Fire."
As a singer, her first album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Country Album chart and was number 3 on the Billboard 200.
Both Hough and Wicks are expected to attend the Country Music Association Awards tonight. Hough will be presenting an award at the ceremony. Wicks will be on the red carpet as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight.
The 43rd CMA Awards will broadcast on ABC 8/7, tonight, 11 November 2009.
