So it’s not in DC, but this item is worth a mention. Besides, there is online pre-bidding.

Today, starting at 10 a.m., the historic Dansereau-Caldwell mansion and its furnishings in Louisiana will go up for auction with the United Country Bonnette Auction Co.

The mansion, located at 506 St. Philip Street in Thibodaux, is a three-story, fully renovated property with modern amenities. It spans nearly 9,000 square feet and features five bedrooms and six baths.

The pictures of the place are insanely wow.

With the auction will go more than 500 high-end furnishings, including antiques, bronzes, garden ornaments, glassware, paintings, and rugs. This is the part that will take place under tents on site.

The actual auction will be conducted live there and it's open to the public.

Bidders must register prior to bidding. Interested parties who can’t attend the live auction may bid online using Proxibid. (For more information, visit United Country Bonnette Auction Co. or call (318) 443-6614.)

Recently, in Alexandria, Boyfriend and I picked up our own piece of 1847 history. (Pictured above. Not exactly a mansion, but we love it very much.)

It’s a land deed written on vellum. It came from an auction held by The Potomack Company.

The next auction there takes place on Dec. 12.

And in case you’re looking for local antiques now – today, Nov. 7 and tomorrow, Nov. 8 – try the DC Big Flea at the Dulles Expo Center.

This massive flea market is my favorite local antique show. Plenty of goodies; admission is $8.
